Absent-Minded: Your friends always say that you'd lose your head if it weren't attached. You've got such a bad memory that you barely recall what you did yesterday, much less last week. Your don't forget Skills or Powers, but you do forget names, addresses and when you last ate.
Air-Head: You're so wrapped up in your own little world, you don't have a clue about reality! Perhaps you retreat into yourself because you're afraid or avoiding a problem, but more likely, you simply aren't using your gray cells. Maybe you fall in and out of conversations and spout non sequiturs. Whatever the case, your friends snicker at you behind your back.
Ambidextrous: You're equally able to use either hand. This Bonus does not affect your ability to perform multiple actions. You must have a minimum Agility of 6 to take this Bonus.
Androgynous: Your appearance is equally masculine and feminine. You are exotically attractive to some (particularly in Japan), disturbing and "unnatural" to others. You may also have to deal with unwanted sexual attention from people of the wrong gender.
Anima Banner: Your anima visibly manifests around you when you use your Powers, or even when you don't. This anima is a holographic, audial or telepathic manifestation of some object or symbol important to your subconscious; for example, if you indentify with a certain card in the Tarot, you might visibly manifest that symbol when you activate a Power. The anima has no tangible effect; it is merely a display of energy.
Bad Luck: Your supernatural "taint" warps chance fields, bending probability and causing misfortune to seek you out with alarming frequency. Murphey is a bitch.
Black Market Ties: You have a contact or contacts in the Black Market, allowing you to purchase items that can't be traced back to you. The Black Market is a good source for villians, but a hero's reputation might be scarred if this contact comes to light. A score of 1 gives you "first time buyer" status, allowing you to purchase any item of RR 6 or less at one higher RR cost (ie, a RR 4 item requires a RR of 5). A score of 3 gives you "regular customer" status, allowing you to buy any item of RR 11 or less at regular price; this score requires a minimum RR of 8 to get. A score of 5 means you basically own the Market, allowing you to buy anything at one less RR (ie, a RR 15 item requires a RR of 14); this score requires a minimum RR of 12 to get.
Catlike Balance: You always seem to fall onto your feet, slightly reducing the amount of falling damage you take. This Bonus has no effect on your Agility score or your ability to perform Agility-based Skills.
Child: You are under 16, or at least you appear to be. Beyond the obvious disadvantages (can't drive, can't vote, can't reach the top shelf), you have 0 Intellect for any Intellect action. This part of the Hindrance is ignored if you possess an Intellect score of at least 8. True Child characters are encouraged to take the Short Hindrance in addition to this one.
Code of Honour: You have a scrict personal code of ethics that you cannot ignore. You can automatically resist most temptations that would bring you in conflict with your code. You must construct your own personal code of honour in as much detail as you can, outlining the general rules of conduct by which you abide.
Confused: You are often confused, and you perceive the world to be a very distorted and twisted place. Sometimes, you are simply unable to make sense of things. You need to roleplay this behavior all the time to a small degree, but your confusion becomes especially strong whenever stimuli surround you (such as a number of different people all talking at once or the pounding music of a nightclub). You can override the effects of your confusion with a high Willpower score, but it works only temporarily.
Cursed: Your are the recipient of a supernatural curse. The strength and pervasiveness of the curse depend upon how many points you wish to incur. Examples follow:
• If you pass on a secret you were entrusted with, your betrayal will come back to harm you in some way. (1 point)
• You stutter uncontrollably when you try to describe what you have seen or heard. (2 points)
• Tools break or malfunction when you try to use them. (3 pts.)
• You are doomed to make enemies of those whom you most love or admire. (4 pts.)
• Every one of your accomplishments or triumphs will eventually become soiled or fail in some way. (5 pts.)
Dark Fate: You are doomed to experience a most horrible demise or, worse, suffer eternal agony. No matter what you do, someday, your struggles, and your dreams will come to naught. Your fate is certain and there is nothing you can do about it. Even more ghastly, you have partial knowledge of this, for you occasionally have visions of your fate--and they are most disturbing. The malaise these visions inspire in you can only be overcome through the use of Willpower, and will return after each vision. At some point in your life, you will indeed face your fate, but when and how is completely up to your creator. Though you can't do anything about your fate, you can still attempt to reach some goal before it occurs, or at least try to make sure that your friends are not destroyed as well. This is a difficult Hindrance to roleplay; though it may seem as if it takes away all free will, you may find that ironically, it grants freedom.
Death Wish: You have an unconscious wish to die. The search for justice, politics and pain, the constant knowledge that you'll never lead a normal life, and perhaps your own cowardice, all have their effect on you. Although you never deliberately do anything to harm yourself, you do tend to hinder yourself at awkward times.
Debt: Sometimes, it's not who you know, it's who you owe. For one point, the debt is a socially or emotionally significant one (you offered some friendly advice or a shoulder to cry on). For two points, it's financially significant (you loaned out money or provided some professional help free of charge). For three points, the debt is a matter of life or death (you saved someone's life or one of her loved ones). You can call in a debt any time, at which point you lose this Bonus.
Demon Plagued: Either you once entered a pact with a demon and then tried to break it off, or you have angered some group of Diabolists. Whatever the case, you are plagued by the evil efforts of a demon. The demon constantly tries to cause all sorts of problems for you, but it is seldom powerful enough to face you directly.
Destiny: Like John Connor from The Terminator, the future holds some great need for you. The exact specifics of what you're destined for are up to your creator.
Devotion: You have a particular devotion to a cause, ideal, organization, or even an individual. Attempts to sway you from the object of your devotion are at an increased difficulty. However, you must remain true to your devotion in order to retain this benefit. If you deliverately and knowingly betray the object of your devotion, your lose the inner strength it gives until you make amends (in a Master's opinion).
Double-Jointed: Your are unusually supple. You have little difficulty performing feats of dexterity involving body flexibility. Squeezing through a tiny space is one example of a use for this Bonus.
Dumbo Syndrome: Named for the Disney cartoon elephant who used a "magic feather" to fly, the Dumbo Syndrome causes your powers to become tied up in some sort of physical object. With the object, you can function normally, but without it, none of your abilities function. Your are, in effect, a baseline. This effect is completely psychosomatic but no less real because of it. Your are completely dependent on your "magic talisman" for the use of your abilities. The destruction of the object eliminates this Hindrance but causes you to gain a new Hindrance in its stead.
Hormonal Imbalance (Lust): Members of the preferred sex, especially those who are in any way attractive, tend to inspire unabiding desire in you. More honorable individuals will do their best to resist this unnatural attraction, but those of darker or more evil bent are perfectly capable of engaging in more....illegal acts to get what they want.
Hormonal Imbalance (Rage): You become prone to fits of blinding, destructive rage. When angered, you tend to attack without regard for your own defense, your surroundings or the situation; you simply lash out at whatever has infuriated or annoyed you. Unless you possess a high Willpower, you will most likely use any and all power at your command in this sort of attack--usually with fatal results for the target.
Hyde Syndrome: You have two forms, a "human" and a "superhuman" form. However, your forms have totally different personalities, and neither remembers what the other experiences--you're like two separate people. In effect, you suffer from a very specific type of Multiple Personality Disorder. Moreover, you have no real control over when you change from one form to the other, just like the Uncontrolled Transformation Hindrance. Characters with Shapeshifting and this Hindrance may have many different forms and personalities!
Jinx: This Hindrance is similar to the Bad Luck Hindrance, only worse. In this case, your supernatural perturbations cause misfortune for yourself and your allies.
Luck: Maybe you were born lucky; maybe some guardian spirit is looking out. Either way, events seem to fall into place in your favor more often than not.
Megalomania: It's not overly difficult for a superhuman to develop a "god complex." As a megalomaniac, you have supreme confidence in your abilities and opinions. Not only do you know what is right for everyone, you have the power, authority, and even the duty to make it happen.
Perfect Balance: Your sense of balance is acute thanks to contant training or inherited traits. It's very unlikely that you'll ever fall during your life. You may trip, but you always catch yourself before you fully lose your footing or handhold.
Pitiable: You wear your misfortune like a shirt and people react to it with pity. You may bathe in this pity, or dispise every ounce of it.
Poverty: You have no job, no money, no home, and only the clothes on your back. In effect, you have a Resource Rank of 0. Your RR can never be greater than 1, and will very quickly drop back to 0 (as you spend your newly acquired funds at McDonalds or on booze).
Schizophrenia: Extreme levels of mental abberation can result in total disassociation from reality. You may be completely delusional, no longer interacting with the real world at all. You are lost in an (often incoherent) fantasy world of your own making and must have a high Willpower score in order to overcome your delusions and act normally, even for a short period of time. You might become catatonic, completely lost in the world within your mind, or might continue to function physically but behave very erratically. The details of your delusions are left up to your creator.
Sexless: You have lost all sexual characteristics, becoming completely androgynous and sexless. In addition to being unable to enjoy sexual relations, your condition is likely to disturb others and make them uncomfortable. On the upside, you are immune to seduction attempts. It's Pat!
Sexual Aberrations: You have developed one of many sexual aberrations. In addition to sadism and masochism, you may have picked up a particular sexual fetish, often relating to clothing such as costumes, leather, latex, or similar materials. True changes in sexual orientation tend to be rare, but you may have developed "kinks" like an appetite for rough sex, orgies, sex games, sex toys, multiple partners and the like. At the extreme end are things like rape, pedophilia, bestiality, necrophilia and "snuff" sex, wherein you derive pleasure from the death of a sexual partner. Sexual aberrations are sensitive topics, and players should be respectful of each other's limits in this and other areas. Note that the Masters do not promote any of the above activities, nor do they wish to read about them on the message board. This Hindrance is intended to be used with villains only, and is not meant to be expanded upon in posts.
Sexy: There's just something about you that attracts people. Maybe you have pretty eyes, or maybe it's just pheromones, but in any case, you find seduction or other forms of sexual influence easier. However, some people may be jealous of you and consider you a rival.
Soft-Hearted: You cannot stand to watch others suffer--not necessarily because you care about what happens to them, but simply because you dislike the intensity of emotion. You avoid any situation that involves causing someone physical or emotional pain. If you are the direct cause of the suffering, and you witness it, you will experience nights of nausea and days of sleepless grief. Whenever you must witness suffering, you find it very difficult to perform any sort of action for the following hour.
Time Sense: Your internal clock is extremely accurate. Your can estimate what time it is down to a minute or two. If you were sleeping or knocked out, you know roughly how long you've been out. You can also execute very accurate countdowns.
Trademark: You have a particular "signature" and feel compelled to use it to "sign" your work. It may be leaving a particular poem or a rose at the feet of a defeated opponent, carving your logo or initials into the nearest wall (or enemy...) or leaving your vanquished foes without clothes. They key is that the trademark clearly shows you were there and requires some small risk on your part, both the distraction of leaving the trademark and the possibility of it being traced back to you.
True Faith: You have a deep-seated faith in (and love for) Gaia, God, or whatever name you choose to call the Almighty. This Faith provides you with an inner strength and comfort that continues to support you when all else betrays you. The effects of Faith certainly vary from person to person, and some are almost never obvious--some of the most saintly people never perform miracles greater than managing to ease an injured soul's suffering. Faith does typically repel creatures of darkness, such as vampires.
True Love: You have discovered, and possibly lost (at least temporarily) a true love--not just a romance, but a source of joy in an increasingly darkening world. Evil may be spreading, but you know there is something to fight for. Whenever you are suffering, in danger or dejected, the thought of your true love is enough to give you the strength to persevere. The power of your love may also be enough to protect you from other supernatural forces. However, your true love may also be a hindrance and require aid (or even rescue) from time to time.
Well-Traveled: You've traveled all over the globe, seen many diffferent cities and have met a great number of people. There's a chance you'll know of a person from another city when you hear his or her name.
